Climate Cycling draws attention to climate change

Finnish Minerals Group is participating in the Climate Cycling Helsinki event with a five-member team. The purpose of the cycling tour for companies and organisations is to draw attention to climate change.

“The mission of Finnish Minerals Group is to build a domestic battery value chain and develop technologies in the mining industry. Consequently, our work is strongly linked to curbing climate change and to environmental issues more broadly, such as promoting resource efficiency and the circular economy. Climate Cycling provides us with a pleasant way to draw attention to the fact that greenhouse gas emissions from transport need to be reduced by all means,” comments CEO Matti Hietanen.

The patron of the Climate Cycling event is the President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö. According to the president’s message, while we need common solutions within and between states, our personal choices and actions will also make a difference in preserving the environment for future generations.

The cycling tour starts and ends on Wednesday, 11 September 2019 in Eira, Helsinki. The 12-kilometre cycling route runs through the most scenic areas in the capital’s centre. The fun event has attracted a significant number of organisations to participate, and the donations collected will go to WWF Finland’s concrete climate work.
