12. August 2021
Finnish Minerals Group has begun to dismantle old buildings at the Sokli mining project area in Savukoski, Northern Finland. The buildings to be demolished are located around the main base and the test concentrator area. Old machinery, electrical wiring and plumbing are also being dismantled inside test concentrator and the crushing plant. Some of the buildings will be renovated.
“The Sokli deposit has been studied since the late 1960s. The work done over the years has also required the establishment of various buildings and installations. Now that the rights to the mining project have been transferred to Finnish Minerals Group’s subsidiary Sokli Oy, one of our first tasks is to take care of the environment and safety in the area,” says Sokli’s Project Manager Pasi Heino.
The demolition and renovation works have been outsourced to a contractor, and the target is to have the works finished by the end of September 2021.
