We are looking for a Summer Trainee to join our Battery Value Chain business area team. The position is fixed-term from the beginning of May until the end of August 2023. After that, it may be possible to carry out Master’s thesis work, according to a separate agreement.

Key duties and responsibilities

• You will be part of the team working on treatment of sodium sulphate containing process waters. The work includes both R&D as well as feasibility studies for investments. The knowledge of discharge water management technologies and process designs is considered an advantage.
• In addition, you will also participate in the development and research of topics related to various battery materials.
• These tasks will require project management, as well as communication and reporting skills.

Requirements for the applicants

• Relevant educational background; at least a bachelor’s degree and/ or master's level studies in a relevant academic field such as chemical, environmental, process or material engineering
• Willingness to take responsibility and ability to learn and apply new things fast
• Ability to work independently and systematically
• Excellent teamwork, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Fluency both in Finnish and English
• Excellent MS Office skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

What is considered an advantage

• Bachelor's thesis related to either water treatment or battery materials
• Experience or knowledge of water treatment and battery and/ or mining industry
• Fluency in academic writing and research
• Enthusiastic and motivated attitude to learn new things

Sokli (Savukoski, NE Finland) is a polymetallic deposit which has been studied for over 50 years' time. Sokli carbonatite deposit is potential for many raw materials (for example phosphorus and rare earth elements), which are critical in the transition for climate neutrality.

 

We are looking for two ambitious Geologist Trainees for the Sokli project to join our team. The working period is four months long and it will be carried out in Savukoski during May-September 2023. You will report to Sokli Oy’s Project Director and you will be employed by Sokli Oy.


Key duties and responsibilities

  • Drill core logging and sampling
  • Assisting during drilling projects
  • Field studies and sampling
  • Tasks related to the archiving, documentation, and material management of the Sokli project
  • Other tasks assigned by Sokli Oy

Candidate profile

  • A few years of geology studies and previous experience in field work
  • Co-operation skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
  • Willingness to take responsibility as well as the ability to learn and apply new matters quickly
  • Willingness to work independently and safely, diligence and orderliness
  • Fluency both in Finnish and English
  • Travel readiness in Finland in the Savukoski and Espoo areas
  • At least a class B driving license
  • Skills in Microsoft Office programs

What is considered an advantage

  • Enthusiastic and motivated attitude to acquire new knowledge
  • Ability to use GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS)
  • Ability to use geological modelling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Surpac)
